Sustainability in terms of the HPC market can be described as meeting the needs of present users without compromising the needs of future users, with a focus on the extraordinary power requirements of HPC systems. Over the past few years, Hyperion Research has been tracking the growing influence the goal of sustainability has had on HPC procurement decision-making at various HPC sites around the world. HPC site managers/directors have had to consider the current global energy crisis and geopolitical climate alongside the HPC market, and begin planning and implementing ways to make HPC operations at their sites more sustainable.
