Description

Earlier this year, a collaboration between AMD, Broadcom, Intel, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and OpenAI published the Multiple Reliable Connections (MRC) specification through the Open Compute Project (OCP). MRC was developed to expand the scalability, reliability, and performance of Ethernet to support the requirements of large-scale AI training and inference clusters. By enhancing the standard RDMA over Converged Ethernet, version 2 (RoCEv2), and releasing it through OCP, MRC removes prior limitations of Ethernet at scale compared to InfiniBand via an open standard expected to be supported by multiple vendors and compatible with existing software stacks.
