Connecting the Dots was again the theme for ISC26 in Hamburg, Germany. The dots were much the same as ISC25, reinforcing the collaborative efforts of global HPC and AI community to advance and accelerate the impact of scientific discovery and innovation. Select takeaways compiled by the team of Hyperion Research analysts attending the event include:
- After a 9-year absence from the top spot on the TOP500, China emerged with the new fastest supercomputer in the world with LineShine, located at China’s National Supercomputing Center in Shenzhen, coming in at 2.198 exaflops and drawing 42.2MW of power.
- HPC end users are showing an increasing interest in QC/HPC integration as QC systems are transitioning away from being scientific efforts and towards commercial productization.
- Supply chain challenges relative to availability are notably impacting system pricing and major procurements.
- Obtaining power to run HPC and AI-for-science datacenters to support new and future technologies continues to be a concern.
- Cloud adoption for HPC and AI-for-science workloads continues to grow.
